Lots of Rehearsing

At my studio, there isn’t a professional company, so our instructor relies on the daytime dancers or the “pre-professionals” to put on lots of company performances each year. This could mean that we have to learn dances up to five to six productions each year! Our instructor expects a lot from us, and we are constantly learning new choreography and are in the studio roughly as much as a professional dancer is. This week, our first week back from break, we have already learned three dances to take to either competition, or festivals out of state. One of which is a group ballet piece called, “The Weeping Willows.” It is a lot of pointe work and complicated steps and turns that are not learned easily. We are all trying our best to learn the choreography quickly, so that we can finish this piece by the end of the month, and can send a video of the dance in to see if we are excepted to perform. We just started rehearsing it yesterday, however, so it is going to be hard on us to memorize all of the transitions and steps in a little over a week. I am going to try and keep posting as often as I can, and will try to find time around my busy schedule. I hope that everyone has a great rest of their afternoon. 🙂
