once upon a sunset
the world is set aglow
filled with things that use to be
and things we have yet
to know
-maysa rose-
petals of thoughts falling into existence
once upon a sunset
the world is set aglow
filled with things that use to be
and things we have yet
to know
-maysa rose-
These words of Tolkien are so powerful and especially touching at this moment in time because he reminds us that there is strength in the darkness. Hope is never lost, and there is still so much beauty in the world beyond what we can see right now. Better days will come, and the light will always shine in the end… Never forget that.
I took my heart to the forest,
And felt its strong embrace
As the winter snow glistened
Softly falling upon my face
I was a lost wanderer
Lonely and alone
Until the forest found me
And guided me back home
The trees conversed together
Gently whispering my name
And when I really listened
Something within me changed
I took my heart to the forest
And with each passing sound
I realised I was never lost
The moment I was found
As I mentioned in a previous post, my family recently moved into a new house, and many exciting opportunities came with the transition… like hatching baby chicks. It was so wonderful to experience, and it has been so neat to watch them grow. We did not expect them all to hatch, so it was a great surprise to end up with ten!
It has been quite an eventful past couple of weeks, and many big projects are underway as we prepare the chicken coop and construct a fence for the goats that we will be getting as well… Overall, it has been a nice change of pace, and this new lifestyle is very fitting for us. My siblings are still so young, and living out here allows their curiosity to run wild in the great outdoors. I am going to make the most of every moment that I have here and cherish every memory… I love my family, and I love this place. Thanks, mom and dad.
a final exhale
drifts off in the wind
scattering memories like ashes
to be visited once again
the blue sky fades away
and everything becomes new
another year is born
from December’s last breath
The new year is on its way, and I think most of us can agree that leaving 2020 behind is quite a relief. Looking back, it is astounding how much can change in a matter of months, weeks, and even a day. To be honest, I learned more this year than I ever imagined, but I grew so much stronger through every fear, uncertainty, hurt, and disappointment. Although it is easy to focus on everything that went wrong, it is important to remember all the things that went right like welcoming my baby brother into the world, moving to a beautiful new house, graduating high school, and attending a university honor’s program. Overall, I feel like this year helped me become a better version of myself, and I am grateful for all of the things that I learned despite the hard times.
One of my resolutions for 2021 is making the conscious effort to write more even if it is only once a week or so. I do not intend to force words on a page, but I know that reminding myself to frequently write (even in a personal journal) will help me become more in sync with my thoughts and emotions…Writing always use to be the thing that I would revert to when things got hard, but I definitely didn’t do that this year which only made things harder. Nonetheless, I want to continue to improve my writing, so I think becoming more active is a great resolution.
That being said, I wrote a little free verse poem in honor of the coming year that I hope you find enjoyable… Here is to new beginnings, and a Happy New Year!
Wishing all of my dear readers a very Merry Christmas! I hope that you all have a healthy and happy holiday season filled with many great memories.
It was a white Christmas this morning, and the view made me so grateful for the gift of this day. Things were quite different this year, and I certainly have a new appreciation for my life as well as the people in it. Though I am so thankful for all the presents I received, the well being of loved ones is the greatest gift of all, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I wish the same for you, and hope you have a blessed day. Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
hello september
i had been awaiting
your return to
bring back the season that
my heart perpetually yearns
and here we meet again
make your visit true
take the world as your canvas
and paint it brand new
caught in the midst
of the vibrant arrays
i cant help but fall for
your crisp autumn days

Just a little poetry in honor of the new month, and the coming of my favourite season… I actually had a request for more posts like this, so I am really glad to share more of my work. If there are any other posts that you would like to see, please don’t hesitate to drop them in the comments section. In the meantime, I hope you guys have a great month, and thanks for reading!
Writing.
Isn’t it amazing how simple words on a page can transport you to another place in time… how colorless sentences fuse together to create a world so vivid right before your eyes? Page after page, the imagination runs free and pulls you into a new reality.
This summer, I have spent my free time indulging in lots of great books… Some of you may know that I have been wanting to write my own novel for awhile. I had an idea spark about two years ago that I never revisited, but I remembered it recently as I was trying to fall asleep one night. This time, an entire scene flashed through my mind, so I quickly grabbed a pen and recorded as many details as I could in a small journal. Ideas continued to flow ever since, and they have inspired me to finally begin plotting. It will be years, of course, before its publication, and I know that I wont have much time once school starts back up. No matter when or if this book is ever released, I really hope see my own novel on a shelf someday somewhere…
Do you have any advice? Have you published or aspire to publish a book some day too? I would love to hear from you, and thanks for reading!
unspoken thoughts
float on paper wings
carried by the wind
softly glowing
secret messages
paint the sky
embers burn
as the heart flies
what could be
what should be
what would be
what is
you will never know
writing secret messages
Did you enjoy this? What are your thoughts? Would you like to see more poetry? Thanks for reading!
Hola,
I hope you guys had a fantastic 4th of July!
The Fourth is my family’s biggest celebration, and we typically host a huge party with friends and neighbors. This year was quite different, however, but we still had a great time! Although the pandemic took away our party, it did not take away our annual firework show… Every year, neighbors contribute to a massive firework pile that never fails to blow me away (literally).
There is something special about that burst of color against the night sky, and I look forward to it every single year. As firecrackers, sparklers, and fireworks filled the night, all of my worries kind of faded away, and I was able to truly live in the moment. I especially needed that this year, so it was awesome! How did you celebrate?
Happy Independence Day 2020!
