When something is important enough… ~Elon Musk

When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.

~Elon Musk

Do whatever it takes… It doesn’t matter who you are or what your dream is. If it is important enough to you, you will find a way to make it happen (despite ANY obstacles that may stand in your way). Make the most of every opportunity that you have to get closer to your goal. That clock is advancing… Are you?

Determination. Hard work. Strength. Passion.

Happy Friday! 🙂

Blog Award!!!

artsy

I am pleased to announce that I have been nominated for the Liebster Blog Award by Ballet Basics on https://ballet182.wordpress.com/

My 11 questions:

1: When/why did you start blogging?

I actually began this blog in 2013, but I haven’t been actively blogging for that long. I took a break from posting for almost two full years before I came back around mid-2015. To be honest, I don’t really remember why I FIRST started blogging…

2: What is your favorite thing to do?

Dance!! I love being able to express myself through my movements, and the power/ joy that I feel when I am onstage is not even explainable! It is the most incredible feeling, and nothing else makes me feel the way that I do when I perform.

3: If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?

I have always thought Paris would be an incredible place to visit…

4: Who inspires you?

New York City Ballet’s Ashley Bouder!!!!!!

5: What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is definitely my mother’s homemade chicken and dumpling soup! She is absolutely outstanding at cooking this, and it has always been one of my personal favorites.

6: What is your favorite color?

PURPLE!!! 🙂

7: If you could be anyone for one day who would it be?

I think that it would be cool to step into Sara Lane’s shoes for the day, literally. 😉 I think that it would be pretty amazing to dance as a soloist for the American Ballet Theatre. She is such an inspiring dancer, and I would love to be her for the day.

8: Are you a morning or night person?

I would definitely say that I am a morning person, (once I pull myself up out of bed and resist that snooze button).

9: Favorite vacation?

Visiting Key West, Florida has to be one of my most favorite vacations!!

10: Most exciting moment in your life?

One of the most exciting moments in my life was the day that I held my baby sister for the very first time…

11: What scares you the most?

I think one of my biggest fears is something bad happening to me or someone I love. I hope that my loved ones continue to be happy and healthy for years to come. 🙂

Dance Festival 2017

tendufriend

My body is thankful that this weekend is over, but my heart longs for this festival to repeat itself. It was an incredible experience, and I learned so much in such a short amount of time… From all of the classes to the wonderful performance, I am so proud of all my extremely talented friends! I enjoyed dancing with every single one of you, and I am so proud to dance beside you always… You guys are awesome.

*Also, I have to share that I took my very first Turkish Dance class this weekend! We were given a list of class options that we could choose from during the day, and I decided to try something new for my first class on Sunday… It was definitely different, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. 🙂 Have any of you ever taken Turkish? Would you, if you were given the opportunity?

To Perform…

stage

Some performances are an incredible blessing to be apart of, and you soak up each ray of the bright shining lights. You feel the music guide your body, as you move the audience with your emotion and presence. Then, the curtain goes down, and your work is complete; you feel a faint tear roll down your cheek, as you dread the thought of the theater doors closing…

Other times, the choreography ravages your brain and the stress becomes intolerable. You overthink the counts and movements so much that everything feels uneasy and unnatural. At that point, you are looking forward to watching that curtain go down so that you can finally wipe the sweat off of your brow and collapse on the dance-beaten stage…

-Each individual performance brings it’s own journey and it’s own challenges. It is simply how you handle those challenges, that define the experience that you will have… ENJOY IT!! You have rehearsed. You have prepared. You are ready. You may not feel completely confident, but trust GOD and PERFORM. Show the audience, why you dance.

(Note to self before the festival this weekend. Wish me luck!)

Holding on…

clumsyandsilly

Determined to keep going,

But my legs aching and fingers slowly slipping,

I couldn’t hold myself up much longer.

I slipped,

And slammed into the wall,

Until my feet hit the ground again,

Back to where I started,

“I can’t do this! I’m too weak!”

“No, no! I have to try again!”

I chalked up my hands,

Quickly gripped on,

And began climbing,

Before I had the chance to change my mind.

You see,

Sometimes all it needs is one go,

Others, multiple hits and falls,

It’s not always easy to reach the top,

But you’ve got to realise in order to succeed,

You’ve got to let go of the belief of not being good enough,

Or simply not being capable.

You’ve got to be willing to fail once,

Or twice,

Or even more,

And acknowledge the achievement that has been made,

Even if you only managed to get…

Important Updates!!!

It has been an incredibly busy week, and so much has happened since my previous post on Monday. I have decided to list a few important updates that you may want to know about before we finish this exciting season…

*First off, I just found out that I have been selected to take part of “The College Project” that will be performed in three weeks. A dance major came to our studio to audition dancers for her school choreography project, and I am so thankful to announce that I was once of the five chosen for this piece… 🙂

*Secondly, I was asked a few days ago if I could fill-in for an injured dancer in an upcoming showcase. I happily accepted the offer, and I greatly appreciated the choreographers trust in me to learn the dance on such short notice.

*Lastly, we finally finished our corps de ballet dance that will be performed in a festival this upcoming weekend. Our in-theater rehearsal is on Thursday, so check back for exciting updates and photos!!
