Just Beachy

summerbeach

A blanket of sand covered our toes, and the cool water brushed our skin.

Everything was just beachy.

summerfun

I used to drive by the beach on my way to school everyday last year, and I would always gaze out at the peaceful solitude. Birds would occasionally fly through the wakening sky, and a light layer of fog would gently settle on the water. The sun would peek through the clouds while boats danced with the waves… I would long for that freedom as I sat in traffic preparing for another lecture-filled day. After months of fantasizing, I finally stepped into the water for the first time this summer, and I was so lucky to have had such great company. I had so much fun; thanks y’all!

Do you enjoy going to the beach? Anything exciting coming up? What is your favorite thing to do during the summer? Is there something that you often find yourself longing for?

Liebster Blog Award

Liebster Award

I am so thankful to have been nominated for the Liebster Blog Award by the awesome Ezra! Thank you so much! 🙂

Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  • List the rules in your post.
  • Answer the questions that you were asked.
  • Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers.
  • Ask your nominees 11 of your own questions.
  • Once you have written and published your post, then inform your nominees of their nomination

Ezra’s Questions For Me:

1. What’s your favorite sports team?

I am just going to be honest and admit that I really don’t keep up with sports enough to have a favorite team… Sorry!

2. What do you spend most of your time doing every day besides school?

Dancing. Whether I am taking class or rehearsing, I am always at the studio.

3. Do you have any plans for summer?

I am taking a summer semester at the college to keep getting closer to my degree, and I also have my dance intensive for the next few weeks. Other than that I will be sleeping in, soaking up the sun, and hanging out with friends.

4. What is your favorite type of candy?

Oh goodness, that is a hard choice… I think I have to go with Almond Joy.

5. Would you rather be Captain America or Batman?

Captain America!

6. What is the longest you’ve slept?

I think the longest that I have ever slept is close to 14 hours!

7. What’s your favorite board game or video game?

Board games are great for camping or spending time with family, but video games are more exciting; I guess it just depends.

8. What is your favorite way of transport?

AIRPLANES! I don’t know what it is, but I have always jumped at the chance to fly.

9. How long on average does it take you to make a post?

Lately, my posts have been quite lengthy, so they have been taking me a lot longer to write. I would say generally anywhere between 45 minutes to 2 hours once I upload the pictures from my phone, write, edit, and publish the final draft.

10. Star Wars or Marvel?

Honestly, I am not very familiar with either. I know it is terrible, and please don’t judge me. I desperately need to catch up!

11. What’s your favorite bible verse?

Philippians 4:13 remains in my heart every single day as I remind myself that ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I know that it is one of the most popular verses, but it always gives me the strength especially in times of doubt.

11 Random Facts About Myself:

  1. I have two 75 lb dogs named Lucky and Tank.
  2. I have been a licensed driver for one year now.
  3. I am not a morning person…. at all.
  4. I think Yellowstone and Key West are the most beautiful places that I have ever been to.
  5. My favorite colors are purple and turquoise.
  6. I have been stung by a jellyfish and have been inches away from stepping on a sting ray at the beach.
  7. I am the oldest of three children.
  8. I am an incredibly indecisive person.
  9. My skin sunburns so easily, and I am the only one in my family who can’t tan.
  10. Yellow is my best color to wear.
  11. Roller coasters are a big no-no for me because I hate heights, but many people question that because I am a ballet dancer. I do have to be lifted, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that I like it. I also love airplanes though, so I guess I am just weird.

I Nominate…

  1. Vrunda Chauk
  2. Popsicle Society

Embarrassing Moments

choreo

We have all had those moments where our faces turned bright red, and all we wanted to do was hide in a corner and pretend like nothing ever happened. After some time, though, our embarrassing moments become quite amusing and are quickly developed into stories that we laughingly share. I am constantly embarrassing myself, and I have more embarrassing stories that I can even count. However, for the sake of your reading (and my reputation) I have narrowed it down to 4 embarrassing moments that I will share today, so I hope you enjoy…

“Maybe a hundred bad days made a hundred good stories
A hundred good stories make me interesting at parties”

“100 Bad Days” song by AJR

/Parking Problem/

It was only the first or second week of school, and I did an absolutely terrible parking job (crooked and literally on the line) right in front of the building. Then, another car came and parked on the other side of me which completely pinned my car in. I got dangerously close to the cars with every attempt that I made to move, and the driver of the other car paid no attention to me. I hollered out my window to get some random kid to help because I was desperate and had to get to class. Considering how big our campus is, I thought I would never see him again, but he happens to be in my English class this semester. We are actually really good friends now, but it is never ideal to be remembered by lack of parking skills when you formally meet someone for the first time.

“Oh, I remember you…”

“Yeeeeah”

“Walking” on a Red Carpet

I made a grand entrance to my first prom by nearly face planting and tripping twice on the red carpet… I will admit that I constantly trip in the hallways at school, stores, and pretty much everywhere else, but who trips going into prom?

Direct Flight

I was at lunch with a group of people that I had just met, and we didn’t know each other very well. We decided to eat outside, and less than 10 minutes passed before a bug flew directly into my eye. I didn’t make a very big deal as I tried to handle it myself, but everyone was at the table started freaking out as they caught sight of my eye. All I will say is that it was a big bug. The waitress even ran over to see why they were all so upset as I quickly/embarrassingly fled to the bathroom to wash out my eye. It was swollen, red, and burning for the remainder of the day... Talk about embarrassing! Honestly, I still cringe at this memory.

Where Is All The Popcorn?

Please tell me that I am not the only one who almost always drops popcorn down my shirt at the movie theater…

Can you relate to any of these? Which moment did you find the most amusing? Feel free to drop some of YOUR embarrassing memories in the comments below (if you would like to). Also, photo credits to my friend, Claire! I know this has nothing to do with the theme of the post, but I still thought I would share because it is a pretty neat capture of my rehearsal. Have a fantastic week, and thanks for reading this lengthy post!

Guilty Confessions

guiltyconfessions

It’s guilty confessions time! Many of you have been waiting on this post since you voted in January’s blog post poll, so I am super excited to finally release it. This is where I confess four shameful things that I am guilty for and hope that you don’t judge me too harshly… Here we go!

1: I have typed wrong my entire life.

I actually didn’t even realize this until about two months ago when my mom pointed it out. My left hand was typing fine, but my right index finger was literally stretching to hit every letter on the other side of the keyboard. I am currently trying to break this habit after years of incorrect typing, and it is definitely not an easy task.

2: I have a childish fear of needles.

This is painful to admit, but I am absolutely terrified of needles. Even sitting in a doctor’s office makes my body tremble, and I have cried several tears (even as a teenager) because of this childish fear.

3: I am a really bad nail biter.

I have been guilty of this for years, but it is actually much better than it use to be! Honestly, I use to bite my nails until they would bleed, so I am definitely making progress.

4: I gave my friend her birthday gift three months late.

Yes, this actually happened. I got the gift on time, but I kept leaving it at my house whenever we would see each other. I felt so bad, but I finally got the gift to her three months late.

What are you are guilty for? Can you relate to any of these things?

Sounds of Spring 2019

springflowers

Spring has officially arrived, and the weather has been absolutely gorgeous for the past few days! I have been fully embracing the bright blue skies as I cruise down these roads. My hair blows in the wind, and my questionable singing skills are revealed as I occasionally catch a few glances at stoplights. I know this weather will soon become replaced by the annual storms that whip through the area, so I am going to enjoy every single moment of it. I thought I would share a few songs that I have recently added to my spring playlist for 2019, so I hope you enjoy!

  • The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
  • Ridin’ Roads by Dustin Lynch
  • If Everyone Cared by Nickelback
  • Cough Syrup by Young The Giant
  • Slow Fade by Ruth B.
  • Amsterdam by Imagine Dragons

What have you been listening to lately? Are you familiar with any of these artists or songs? Happy Spring!!!

A Day In My Life

octoberphotoshoot

Hey everyone! Today, I thought it would be fun to share “A Day In My Life” and allow you to have a small peak into my routine throughout the week. I wanted to try something new and a little different on Maysa Rose, so I hope that you like this post!

7:00 AM: I finally decide to roll out of bed after pressing the SNOOZE button on my alarm at least twice.

8:00 AM: I load my backpack, lunch, dance bag, and purse into the trunk of my car and head to school.

8:40 AM- 1:15 PM: I arrive at school and bounce from class to class listening to lectures. My favorite time of day… (not really)

1:20 PM: I begin my 30 minute commute to the dance studio.

1:50ish PM: I finally reach the studio, do my hair, get changed, and cram food in my mouth before I head to class.

2:15- 5:30 (occasionally 6:30 PM): Ballet class and rehearsals

6:00 (occasionally 7:00 PM): I get home, eat dinner, shower, do laundry, and prepare for the next day.

8:00 PM- 12:30 AM (typically but varies): Homework and study

There you have it; this is the average day in the life of me! Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed this or if there are any posts that YOU would like to see… Have a great Wednesday! 🙂

Drivers License!

wyoming1.jpg

A few days ago, something crazy happened:

I earned my drivers license.

For months, I had been dreading the day that my parents would hand me the keys and let me drive alone. I never wanted that pair of knowledgeable eyes to go away as I maneuvered a vehicle on the road. It is a huge responsibility, and I understand the risks that are associated with it. Now, I have passed my drivers test with a pretty good score, my confidence has definitely gone up (not too high). 🙂 Even though I am still uneasy about this milestone, I am ready to begin this new adventure as a licensed driver… Wish me luck!

Catch Up & Tag

grandmasgarden

These past few weeks have sent my brain swirling in many different directions, but none were even slightly related to blogging. I have been trying to get ready for school to begin, spend time with out-of-state family, brainstorm for a novel that I might consider writing soon, and study for my drivers license. Did I mention reading the Harry Potter series until my eyes hurt? In the end, I just want to recognize the fact that I have been so distant and apologize for my lack of support. I love blogging, and I absolutely love reading all of your posts. I haven’t forgotten about you, and I will definitely try to be better in the weeks ahead.
