Winter Begins!

“A snowflake is one of God’s most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together!”

~Unknown

I have a love/hate relationship with the winter season, but I always end up looking forward to it every year… The snow transforms our ordinary town into an enchanted world where young eyes sparkle with excitement. It brings families together for an adventurous day of snowman building and hot coco drinking by the fireplace. This season is so memorable and amazing. Wishing you all a beautiful first day of winter 2018-19!

Nutcracker Casting 2018!

lift

A few days ago, the casting for this year’s production of The Nutcracker was released. My friends and I had been discussing the possibilities for weeks now, and we had all been anxiously waiting to find out if our predictions were accurate.. I have been cast as a maid, the snow queen, and marzipan. I had never imagined that I would have been selected for these roles, and I am incredibly thankful.

The enchanted forest of snow has always been one of my favorite scenes out of the entire ballet, and I am absolutely honored to have been cast as the queen. I had always hoped that I would perform marzipan someday, but I never expected it to be so soon…

My very first rehearsal is Tuesday. Wish me luck! 🙂

International Dance Day!

Snow Queen

Happy International Dance Day!!!

I am so fortunate, blessed, and incredibly honored to be able to say that I am a dancer. This art form has changed my life, and the experiences that I have had will be treasured in my heart forever. Although it can be very harsh at times, there is nothing that I love doing more than dancing. It is my passion. It is my dream. To be honest, I am not sure how far it will take me, but I know that God has a reason for leading me where I am today. I couldn’t be more thankful, and I am excited to continue my journey through the world of dance!

*I recently discovered this group contemporary piece online, and I have been looking forward to sharing it with all of you. I really enjoyed watching this, and I hope that you all do as well! HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY (once again)!

Dance Diary

Vision & College

long day

With lots of twists and turns (literally), this past week was definitely an adventure. From taking my college dual enrollment exam to setting my very own choreography on a group of outstanding dancers, it definitely put me through a lot of stress.

Despite of all it all, I am absolutely elated to know that the hours of late-night studying/ preparing actually paid off, and I have exceeded the standards on my college entry exam. I am really looking forward to starting this upcoming school year as a dual enrollment student at the college, and it is going to be an awesome experience to take on-campus classes (working around my studio schedule).

Nonetheless, I also learned that choreography is much harder than it may appear to the eyes of the audience. A dance takes a lot of work to create, and there are many moving parts to keep track of at one time. I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to work with such talented peers, and I appreciate their patience and ‘flexibility’ tremendously. It truly is amazing to see a vision actually come alive. I am very pleased with the result of this piece, and I think that it will definitely be something that the audience will remember…

Wishing you all the best!

Balancing Life

walkingdowntown

Wow, I apologize for my lack of activity on WordPress this past week! Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to read your posts or write my own lately. Not only that, I had to read and write so much for school that I temporarily lost all motivation inspiration to blog; however, I am back now! I should be able to “balance” my schedule a little better after working a full weekend, and I hope to be super active next week to keep you all updated on the pre – performance posts (as usual). I have no doubt that I will have a lot to say and rant about as the weekend looms closer. I hope that you all are doing well. Happy Saturday! 🙂

*Also, good luck to all of my friends competing this weekend! After all of the hard work, I have no doubt that you are going to shine under those lights. I am super excited to hear the results, and I will keep you in my prayers.
