A Humbling Experience

thoughts

With each breath, I remember how lucky I am to be alive, and I thank God for the health of myself, friends, and family. It is so easy to take “the little things” in life for granted, but it is important to remember that everything can change in an instant. Nothing is ever guaranteed. As I let my feet sink into the earth, I embrace the sounds of nature and consider how fortunate I am to hear the birds sing. I think about how blessed I am to have vision that allows me to see the amazing world that surrounds me, and a voice to speak what is on my mind… I thank God for waking me up because today truly is a gift.

I danced for the patients at the hospital yesterday, and it was a very humbling experience. Emotions stirred within me as little kids reached for the tutus, stretched their arms up, and moved their feet… I am so grateful that I could share my gift of dance with such an inspiring crowd, and it is something that I will never forget. It felt so rewarding to see the joy on their faces, and I hope that I can do this again in the future. Props to my friend, Claire, who organized the event because it would not have happened if it wasn’t for her… Thank you for everything!

Have you had an eye-opening experience recently? What have you been up to this weekend? I hope that you have a fantastic week.

Guilty Confessions

guiltyconfessions

It’s guilty confessions time! Many of you have been waiting on this post since you voted in January’s blog post poll, so I am super excited to finally release it. This is where I confess four shameful things that I am guilty for and hope that you don’t judge me too harshly… Here we go!

1: I have typed wrong my entire life.

I actually didn’t even realize this until about two months ago when my mom pointed it out. My left hand was typing fine, but my right index finger was literally stretching to hit every letter on the other side of the keyboard. I am currently trying to break this habit after years of incorrect typing, and it is definitely not an easy task.

2: I have a childish fear of needles.

This is painful to admit, but I am absolutely terrified of needles. Even sitting in a doctor’s office makes my body tremble, and I have cried several tears (even as a teenager) because of this childish fear.

3: I am a really bad nail biter.

I have been guilty of this for years, but it is actually much better than it use to be! Honestly, I use to bite my nails until they would bleed, so I am definitely making progress.

4: I gave my friend her birthday gift three months late.

Yes, this actually happened. I got the gift on time, but I kept leaving it at my house whenever we would see each other. I felt so bad, but I finally got the gift to her three months late.

What are you are guilty for? Can you relate to any of these things?

The Buck Target

christmas18

My sister and I got a rubber buck target from our parents this Christmas, and we have had so much fun strengthening our archery skills (and arm muscles) these past couple of days. I really love our new target because it is so much more exciting than the paper targets that we had used in the past. However, this is the closest I will ever get to a buck with my bow because I think killing a real animal would be too emotionally hard for me. Fishing doesn’t bother me, but I have absolutely no doubt that hunting big game would. Maybe this will change in the future, but I will only use targets for now.

Have you been hunting before? Do you enjoy archery? I hope that you all had an amazing Christmas!

9 Christmas Favorites

IMG_0398

Christmas is coming up so quickly, and I can hardly believe that it is only nine days away! In honor of this countdown, I thought it would be fun to share nine things that I love about this time of the year…

  1. The lights– Christmas lights make me so happy! My family often dedicates a night to view lights around town a few days before Christmas.
  2. Egg nog (non alcoholic)– I have an obsession with this seasonal beverage.
  3. Shopping– As stressful as it may be at times, I really enjoy Christmas shopping and finding special gifts to give my friends/family.
  4. Music– I may sound crazy, but I usually start listening to Christmas music November 1st because I love it so much!
  5. Cookies– I always look forward to eating that sweet batch of Christmas cookies.
  6. Family– I really love it when family and friends gather to celebrate.
  7. Christmas Dinner– Those of you who have been following my blog for awhile probably know that I absolutely love food, and Christmas dinner is the best!
  8. Wrapping gifts– It is so fun to wrap gifts and place them under the tree.
  9. Movies– There is no better way to get in the Christmas mood than to snuggle up in a nice, fuzzy blanket and watch holiday movies!

Do you like any of these things too? Did I miss anything?

Thanks for reading, and have a great week! 🙂

I missed it!

“The spring came suddenly, bursting upon the world as a child bursts into a room, with a laugh and a shout and hands full of flowers.”

~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I realize that the first day of Spring was yesterday, but it is never too late to share the adoration and happiness of this beautiful time of year. As the flowers transform the world into an array of color, never walk past a single petal without recognizing how fortunate you are to witness such a magnificent gift from God.

Wishing you all a beautiful Spring. 🙂

5 DAYS & Winter Break

Merrychristmas

It is now official… Winter break has arrived, and it will be 2018 the next time that those studio doors will open. To celebrate the holidays, we played “Secret Santa” and exchanged anonymous gifts with each other. I just want to take a second to thank my Secret Santa, whoever you are, for the incredible peppermint chocolates and adorable coffee mug that you have given me. 🙂 I LOVE IT! I wish all of my friends a wonderful winter break, and I am looking forward to seeing you all again when we return. It has been a great year, and I am excited to see what the rest of this season has to offer. Happy Holidays!

THERE ARE ONLY FIVE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!

Snowy Saturday

Today, we have over a foot of snow!

It is a pain, but it is so pretty though.

With snow up to my knees,

we don’t have many days like these.

When the flurrying powder covers everything in white,

I am finally experiencing the Christmas delight.

Snowman creating.

Cookie baking.

This is the best Christmas in the making.

~Maysa

It has been a snowy Saturday morning, as the snow continues to fall from the heavens. We now have over a foot of snow on the ground, and we are watching that number continue to grow.

It is truly a Marshmallow world, you guys. Stay warm and safe this magical weekend! 🙂
