Nutcracker Casting 2018!

lift

A few days ago, the casting for this year’s production of The Nutcracker was released. My friends and I had been discussing the possibilities for weeks now, and we had all been anxiously waiting to find out if our predictions were accurate.. I have been cast as a maid, the snow queen, and marzipan. I had never imagined that I would have been selected for these roles, and I am incredibly thankful.

The enchanted forest of snow has always been one of my favorite scenes out of the entire ballet, and I am absolutely honored to have been cast as the queen. I had always hoped that I would perform marzipan someday, but I never expected it to be so soon…

My very first rehearsal is Tuesday. Wish me luck! 🙂

Trip of a Lifetime

sunsetmountains

This big summer trip has officially ended, and it is very bittersweet to be back home. I missed my room. I missed my bed. I missed my birds. I missed dance! However, my family and I have made so many great memories together for the past month. We saw parts of the country that we may never get to see again. I saw landmarks that I never imagined I would ever see. This was a trip of a lifetime, and I am so blessed to have experienced such beautiful places. I recall:

being on the edge of my seat at that rodeo in Cody

taking a ride through Bear Country and seeing those wild animals stand inches away from our car in Rapid City

eating the best steak I have ever had at the Big Texan in Amarillo

a giant crow smacking into our car on the interstate in New Mexico

traveling through all of the Fly Over States (love this song!)

almost getting lost as we tried to find our way to Devils Kitchen in Wyoming

driving through Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs as pea sized snow hits our car in June

We are now back to reality. We are home! Thank you all for joining me on this fun adventure, and I really hope you enjoyed this series of posts. Which place are YOU most interested in traveling to after reading?

Colorado Heights

Standing on the top of Pikes Peak 14,115 ft in the sky was definitely an experience that I will be sharing for a long time! Unfortunately, my family and I somehow managed to reach the top in the middle of a thunder-snow storm. We decided to stand on that mountain anyway and enjoy the impressive, hazy state of Colorado below. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pinch on my foot! My family thought I was crazy at first, but it all made sense when my hair stood straight up seconds later. Guys, I experienced an electrical discharge in a thundercloud over 14,000 feet in the sky… I know that this sounds unreal, and I know you may be thinking I have lost my mind. Whether you decide to believe me or not, I definitely didn’t want to leave this bizarre lightning encounter out of this post.

In addition, the Royal Gorge was definitely a grand landmark. I can now say that I have walked across the highest suspension bridge in the entire country! The Arkansas River raged below as I peered down down through the small spaces between the wood flooring. My mother suggested that I take a photo from this viewpoint, and I actually really like how it turned out! What do YOU think? Across the horizon, the river sliced a path through the rocks and cut through the landscape, creating a powerful moment in time…

Yellowstone Reflection

Yellowstone is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my entire life… Neither pictures nor words can describe how spectacular it is, and it is something that you must witness yourself to truly grasp the wonders of Wyoming. I was able to gain a better understanding of how powerful the forces of nature are and how insignificant I am when compared to the ‘big picture’. GOD has created such diverse, beautiful world, and I am so thankful to have gotten a better glimpse of it. I will never forget that special place where stars lit up the sky… snow capped mountains smiled in the distance… crystal clear lakes shimmered… wild buffalo grazed in the distance… and moose, elk, deer, bear, and mountain goats all welcomed us with warm hearts. I was very sad to depart, and I am already missing the magical state of Wyoming.

Swan Lake… Flying Fast

It is absolutely crazy to look at the calendar and be able to say,

Swan lake will be onstage exactly two weeks from today…

Time has managed to escape so quickly, and we are racing the clock to finish all of our choreography before our upcoming performances. With all of the snow and ice taking away precious days of work, we have officially reached crunch time. It is going to be a chaotic next two weeks…

Body: How many snowmen have you made? Feel free to share some memories!

I don’t even know! It may sound childish, but I make a snowman with my family whenever there is snow on the ground (big or small). We actually made two just a few days ago! 🙂

Head: What’s your favorite Christmas memory?

I have A LOT of great Christmas memories, but I would have to admit that last weekend was the most snow that I have ever seen in my entire life! I will never forget how incredible it felt to walk outside to over a foot of snow crunching under my feet…

Carrot nose: What’s your favorite vegetable for Christmas dinner/ whatever you eat on this day?

I love it when my mom makes baked sweet potatoes with marshmallows and cinnamon! It is a family favorite…

Buttons: If you have a Christmas jumper, what does it look like?

Unfortunately, I do not own a Christmas jumper. Sorry!

Stone Smile: What makes you smile the most at winter?

My family and friends bring such great joy to me, and they always make me so happy around the holidays.

Stone eyes: What do you have to watch at Christmas? (This could be a movie, TV show, or even an advert!)

There are so many movies that I watch each year at Christmas time, but Home Alone and The Polar Express are always the first two that I watch.

Twig arms: Have you ever done any snow angels?

Absolutely!!

Gloves: What’s your tactic in a snowball fight?

I don’t really have one!

Hat: What kind of hat do you have?

I have a hat that my mother knitted for me a few years ago, and it is super warm!

Scarf: What’s your favorite Christmas preparation?

I love decorating the house and putting the ornaments on the tree! I look forward to this every year…

I had a great time participating in this tag, and I am so thankful that Maggie nominated me! I nominate all of my awesome readers to enjoy this special holiday tag (if they wish), and I invite them to place the link to their post in the comments section so that we can read their responses. I hope that you all have fun with this!

Snowy Saturday

Today, we have over a foot of snow!

It is a pain, but it is so pretty though.

With snow up to my knees,

we don’t have many days like these.

When the flurrying powder covers everything in white,

I am finally experiencing the Christmas delight.

Snowman creating.

Cookie baking.

This is the best Christmas in the making.

~Maysa

It has been a snowy Saturday morning, as the snow continues to fall from the heavens. We now have over a foot of snow on the ground, and we are watching that number continue to grow.

It is truly a Marshmallow world, you guys. Stay warm and safe this magical weekend! 🙂
