The fourth of July is right around the corner, and it is time to add the finishing touches to the 2019 celebratory playlist. This is the biggest annual event that my family hosts, and we are expecting over fifty guests this year. I am typically in charge of constructing the playlists for most of our gatherings, and I try to make them as large as possible to avoid the annoyance of song repetition. I have searched all over the place for independence-themed songs, and I want to give you a small glimpse into this year’s bunch… Not all of these songs have the intensity for the firework show, but they will certainly be played during the party. I hope you enjoy, and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
- It’s America by Rodney Atkins
- Fire by Barns Courtney
- All American Mutt by Jamie Kent
- Fight for You by Shawn McDonald
- Freedom by Pharrell Williams
- Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue by Toby Keith
- American Woman by Lenny Kravitz
- Smoke Clears by Andy Grammer
- Alive by Pearl Jam
- All-American Girl by Carrie Underwood
Have you heard any of these before? Did you like this post? What are your song recommendations for me?
*Also, I accidentally set a backdate on my previous post, “Dryads & Shades,” so it did not show up as a recent post WordPress… That was my mistake, but be sure to go check it out here if you missed it. Thanks for reading!
I spent the past few days lost in space as visions of nebulas sent me swirling through the great unknown. I was reminded how insignificant I truly am as I attempted to comprehend the vastness of our world beyond the night sky. I walked underneath massive rockets, went through a black hole simulator, and toured a realistic model of the International Space Station. NASA has always intrigued me, but the US Space & Rocket Center allowed me to appreciate our universe even greater than before.
I am so fortunate to have camped in the mountains and explored this museum with such great people because we made memories that will certainly last a lifetime. Friends and family gathered around the fire, laughing, talking, and playing games underneath the stars. Now, it is time to face reality again as spring break comes to a close, but I will never forget the weekend that I was lost in space…
What did you do over spring break? Have you visited this museum before? Are you interested in astronomy too?
“And I’m fallin’… fallin’ for you hard. Let’s slow down; this is just the start. When you hold me, I can’t sing the blues. Like velvet on my fingertips, you sure are smooth”
Lyrics: Velvet by Sofia Caterina
Hey everyone! My friend just released her very own song a few months ago. Believe it or not, Velvet has already received over 30k streams on Spotify and topped 17k views on her YouTube audio track. It would be great if you guys could help promote this rising star by re-blogging this post, sharing it with your friends, and posting it on your personal sites. It would be very appreciated if the WordPress community could help get her more publicity… Be sure to give this song a listen!
Despite the wet, windy weather that took over Nashville, we still had a great day exploring Music City. We visited the Ryman Auditorium (“the mother church of country music” since 1892), line danced, and experienced lots of live music. I am so lucky to have seen Preston James perform that night… He made Blake Shelton’s team on Season 11 of my favorite singing competition, The Voice! He is so amazing, and I am so fortunate to have seen this 17 year old star perform right in front of me.
Believe it or not, someone had something positive to say to me every day this week. From Monday afternoon straight through Friday, my entire week was lit up with positivity. I could not be more thankful for the supportive environment that surrounds me each and everyday, and I am so blessed to have the ability to dance with such a beautiful community of dancers; I can’t wait to see how far they will go.
You all are amazing. Thank you for giving me such an great week! 🙂
I know that I haven’t posted in over a week, but I promise that I DID NOT FORGET ABOUT YOU GUYS! 🙂 Things have been kind of crazy lately, and I have been out of town. The last time I posted was on an airplane heading up to visit family. After the much-needed family time, I flew back home for a day to pack and get ready to join my dad on a business trip on Tuesday! I am so thankful to have been given this incredible opportunity to experience New York City, and I am so lucky to have been able to witness Misty Copeland IN PERSON… Last night, I watched the American Ballet Theatre perform Le Corsaire! It was a huge night for me, and I will remember it forever… I fly back home tomorrow, so I am going to enjoy as much of this city as I can before I leave. Wishing you all the best! Thanks for reading. 🙂
*In the picture above, you can see just how big the theater truly is… I am so insignificant, next to the building as high as the stars within it.
