The applause rained halfway through my variation on Friday night… By the time I finished, I had the biggest smile plastered on my face; I significantly surprised myself. The variation that I chose was a huge challenge, and it was a great accomplishment to prove to myself that I CAN DO IT! People who have seen me dance know that I am not known for my flexibility (one of my biggest challenges), I am known for my fast footwork, cleanliness, and technique. It was definitely one of the fastest variations that I have ever attempted, but I am so proud to have done it! In the end, it was so encouraging to have been told that I was a “fireball” and “firecracker” by multiple peers. All in all, it was an beautiful performance, and I really enjoyed watching my friends dance so gracefully.
The Beauty and the Beast performances also went well! All of us felt very proud, and it was so rewarding to have performed dances that we finished only two days before the show! This weekend truly proved to us ALL that we are capable of so much more than we think! Thank you all so much for all of the support and encouragement. You are the best! 🙂
When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.
Do whatever it takes… It doesn’t matter who you are or what your dream is. If it is important enough to you, you will find a way to make it happen (despite ANY obstacles that may stand in your way). Make the most of every opportunity that you have to get closer to your goal. That clock is advancing… Are you?
Whether you think you can, or think you can’t- You’re Right.
I have been told this ALL MY LIFE, but I had never actually believed it. How could success be mental? Isn’t it physical? What does this even mean? Throughout the past year, I have discovered the truth in these wise words…
*I think back to November when I had to perform a difficult turn onstage. Out of all of the rehearsals, I had only successfully landed the turn ONCE before I had to take it to the lights. On the day of the show, I was terrified that I was going to fall in front of such a big audience. However, my attitude completely changed when I reached the spiraling moment. I told myself, “I am going to do this, and I CAN do this”. Without hesitation, I took off and landed that turn without fail! Was it just pure luck? It couldn’t have been, because I did the same thing with each of my 4 shows and landed them all! How is that for some mental success?
I am not going to bore you all with my large list of mental-success connections from this season, but my point is that you can do a lot more than you think you can! Sometimes all it takes is a really tough situation to prove to yourself that you CAN do it and you WILL achieve it, as long as you BELIEVE it. 🙂 Happy Saturday guys!
