Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, a new contemporary work by a guest choreographer, as well as trying to recall our modern piece from the previous season (originally set for the college project) has definitely kept us incredibly busy this past week! Now that our long Christmas break is approaching, we are rehearsing long hours to try and put our shows together on time. We will be back onstage very shortly after we return!
*Speaking of Sleeping Beauty, I don’t think that I have revealed the casting yet. I am very pleased to announce that a very good friend of mine will be dancing as Aurora in this magical February production! I am so excited to watch her perform this role and shine her talent under that spotlight. I received the Canary Fairy, peasant corps de ballet, and waltz corps de ballet. There is so much to do, but I am super excited to see this ballet come together. I think that it is going to be a great show!
As of right now, I think I am going to sit back and enjoy this weekend… Where is my hot chocolate and fuzzy blanket? 🙂 The countdown to Christmas has finally begun.
TODAY…. I have 30 days until my premier of Snow Queen.
Mentally, I am ready to step onto that stage right now to feel the lights make my heart glow, unleashing everlasting rays of happiness and joy that sends the audience up out of their seats. I hope to give the audience the Christmas experience that they came for and become a memorable part of their Christmas celebration. 🙂 Physically, however, my brain is overflowing with steps and my muscles are slowly transforming into noodle-like material, replacing the instrumental quality that use to guide my dancing. Despite of all of the rehearsal time, we still have tons of dances that need to be finished/started! It is 30 days away, and the countdown has begun. 30 days… Just 30 days…
The applause rained halfway through my variation on Friday night… By the time I finished, I had the biggest smile plastered on my face; I significantly surprised myself. The variation that I chose was a huge challenge, and it was a great accomplishment to prove to myself that I CAN DO IT! People who have seen me dance know that I am not known for my flexibility (one of my biggest challenges), I am known for my fast footwork, cleanliness, and technique. It was definitely one of the fastest variations that I have ever attempted, but I am so proud to have done it! In the end, it was so encouraging to have been told that I was a “fireball” and “firecracker” by multiple peers. All in all, it was an beautiful performance, and I really enjoyed watching my friends dance so gracefully.
The Beauty and the Beast performances also went well! All of us felt very proud, and it was so rewarding to have performed dances that we finished only two days before the show! This weekend truly proved to us ALL that we are capable of so much more than we think! Thank you all so much for all of the support and encouragement. You are the best! 🙂
Recently, I have submitted a poem to the National Student Poetry Contest. The chances of me winning are extremely low, but I decided to participate for my joy of writing. I will be sharing my poem with everyone soon, along with a post about my past that I finally have the strength to tell. This will all be up shortly after this weekend…
This Friday, I will be performing the Night of Variations Showcase. Then, I will be dancing in the Beauty and the Beast production this weekend. We are returning to the theater, once more. 🙂

It has been an incredibly busy week, and so much has happened since my previous post on Monday. I have decided to list a few important updates that you may want to know about before we finish this exciting season…
*First off, I just found out that I have been selected to take part of “The College Project” that will be performed in three weeks. A dance major came to our studio to audition dancers for her school choreography project, and I am so thankful to announce that I was once of the five chosen for this piece… 🙂
*Secondly, I was asked a few days ago if I could fill-in for an injured dancer in an upcoming showcase. I happily accepted the offer, and I greatly appreciated the choreographers trust in me to learn the dance on such short notice.
*Lastly, we finally finished our corps de ballet dance that will be performed in a festival this upcoming weekend. Our in-theater rehearsal is on Thursday, so check back for exciting updates and photos!!
