Audition Season

Audition season officially began for me today as I attended my very first audition of the year. As numbers are pinned onto leotards and judges sort through application papers, it is quite nerve wracking. At my age, directors are looking beyond summer intensive acceptance, and they are taking company positions into consideration…

You only have one class to show the judges what you can do. That one class might be worth major scholarship money to pay for an entire summer of training, and it can give you a reputation for a potential job! As stressful as it can be, it is so neat to take master classes from different ballet directors, and I love experiencing their unique teaching style. I am so grateful that they take so much time to tour around the country to host these auditions. In the end, I try not to worry about the results or my future as a dancer because I know that God has a plan for me. If this is what I am meant to do, I will be at the right company at the right time… It will all work out how it is suppose to. Good luck to all of my readers who are auditioning this season!

One More Week…

snowpasdedeux

I see the elaborate tutus hung on the racks and admire the glittering tiaras set in careful stacks. The props in the basket are so very sweet. This show will definitely be a treat!

It is hard to believe that opening night for “The Nutcracker” is exactly one week from today, but I am looking forward to performing in the very first show of the 2018-19 season. I am so humbled to have been cast as the snow queen because it is one of my favorite roles in the entire ballet. As much as I love it, the snow pas de deux is has been very challenging physically and mentally as I try to get as close to perfection as possible. I want to leave the audience in awe this holiday season and perform to the best of my ability. I have one more week. Wish me luck!

Lovely Lakeside

lakesideweekend

I spent my weekend kayaking on calm waters, swimming on the shoreline, getting lost in good books, & enjoying the lovely lakeside… After such a long and intense week of training, camping was exactly what I needed to refresh my mind & body before another busy week starts. The summer clock is ticking away fast, and I only have a few more weeks before “busy” takes on a whole other meaning.

*I am trying to enjoy it while I can, because it is not going to last much longer! I hope all of my readers are having a great summer! Thanks for reading. 🙂

3 interesting things about me:

1) I love to travel, and by the end of summer I will have been to 20 states.

2) I have been deep sea fishing, but I quickly learned that I get very sea sick.

3) I have been stung by a jellyfish when we were visiting Key West one summer… I was pretty young, so I remember screaming to my mother and telling her “a puffer fish got me”.

I frequently find that many of my followers do not like to be nominated for awards/tags. Therefore, I nominate any of my readers who would like to participate! 🙂 Please feel completely free to attach your post in the comments section so that others can read your post.

5 Questions for me:

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

In 5 years, I hope to be in a professional ballet company. I hope that all of my intense training in this professional trainee program will get me where I really want to be… Dancing full time as a company member.

  • What is your favourite place on earth?

I absolutely LOVE the beach. I visit the beach as often as my schedule will allow, and I enjoy every second of the salty midst, the sand between my toes, and the fresh ocean breeze…

  • Why is your passion your passion?

I have a special connection with ballet… I am not even sure how to describe why it is my  passion, but I just feel like it is what I am meant to do. I feel like it is a part of me, and I couldn’t see myself ever being the same without it.

  • Where (a place) does your heart draw you to?

THE THEATER!! I absolutely love dancing on that stage, and my heart leaps whenever I hear the audience roar. As much as I perform, it never gets old. Every performance brings something new, and I don’t think that I will ever get tired of it.

  • What is the wildest dream you ever dreamed?

Quite honestly, I am not sure!

5 Questions for my participants:

  1. What is the story behind your blog name?
  2. Where is your dream travel destination?
  3. Do you prefer the mountains or the ocean? Why?
  4. Would you rather live in the city with skyscrapers and busy streets or the country-side with corn fields and cattle?
  5. Food choices: Sweet VS. Sour. What would you choose?

IBI Summer Program

class

Thank you so much International Ballet Intensive for everything that you have taught me and helped me with throughout these past few weeks. I have learned so much, and I can not even begin to explain how appreciative I am. For those of you who have not attended to IBI, I strongly recommend this intensive to be on your audition list next year… I got so much out of the training, and I am so lucky to have met five guest instructors from all across the world. THANK YOU INTERNATIONAL BALLET INTENSIVE! 🙂
