Music…

clouds

Music… The mood booster that always ends your day on a good ‘note’…. The influence of your highly off-pitch voice screaming lyrics into your imaginary microphone. You think you are having a great time until you realize all of the windows of your house are open and all of your neighbors can hear you *cough*. ANYWAY, I wanted to dedicate this post to all of those music lovers out there who are always searching for new songs… Enjoy!

Safe Haven (Hillary Scott)

Dear No One (Tori Kelly)

Poetry (Wrabel)

At My Best (Machine Gun Kelly)

Beautiful Like You (Lee DeWyze)

*Shout out to the autumn daydreamer for being the inspiration for this post!

Vision & College

long day

With lots of twists and turns (literally), this past week was definitely an adventure. From taking my college dual enrollment exam to setting my very own choreography on a group of outstanding dancers, it definitely put me through a lot of stress.

Despite of all it all, I am absolutely elated to know that the hours of late-night studying/ preparing actually paid off, and I have exceeded the standards on my college entry exam. I am really looking forward to starting this upcoming school year as a dual enrollment student at the college, and it is going to be an awesome experience to take on-campus classes (working around my studio schedule).

Nonetheless, I also learned that choreography is much harder than it may appear to the eyes of the audience. A dance takes a lot of work to create, and there are many moving parts to keep track of at one time. I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to work with such talented peers, and I appreciate their patience and ‘flexibility’ tremendously. It truly is amazing to see a vision actually come alive. I am very pleased with the result of this piece, and I think that it will definitely be something that the audience will remember…

Wishing you all the best!

Hour Lives

Time.

At one moment, you seem to be racing against it. At another, the seconds pound in your ears it drags you along. In the end, it always manages to flash before your eyes.

As the clock ticks on, we are merely “going through the motions” everyday. Our schedules mash together into one big blueprint of life, and we speed though the days without putting much thought into our actions. Seconds turn into minutes, minutes turn into hours, hours turn into days, days turn into months, and months turn into years, and all that is left is pure memories…

I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to choreograph this group contemporary-ballet piece about Hour Lives, and I am looking forward to the first rehearsal with my dancers on Monday.

It is going to be extra special to see time come alive on the stage in May… Wish me luck as I dive head first into the world of choreography (this is a first)!

In late December, I did a photo shoot with the incredible photographer, Richard Jean- Louis. It was such a fun experience, and I am glad that I am able to share more of this shoot with all of you. If you like this, be sure to check out my previous post Standards.

Midweek Madness

rehearse

One heck of a lot of work. Two dead pairs of pointe shoes. Three full show run throughs… These last three days have taken a lot of effort to plow through, and we are mentally preparing ourselves to be back in the theater Friday night.

This has been our week so far:

One hour we are drowning in the lake of countless other swans, and the next, we are royally waltzing across the courtroom to greet Princess Aurora. Then, we face an immediate tempo change to rehearse our guest choreographed modern pieces. Every now and then, we are given spare time in an open studio to practice understudied roles or to go over choreography that occasionally slips the brain.

*We have one day left in the studio… Am I the only one who finds that insane?

Balancing Life

Wow, I apologize for my lack of activity on WordPress this past week! Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to read your posts or write my own lately. Not only that, I had to read and write so much for school that I temporarily lost all motivation inspiration to blog; however, I am back now! I should be able to “balance” my schedule a little better after working a full weekend, and I hope to be super active next week to keep you all updated on the pre – performance posts (as usual). I have no doubt that I will have a lot to say and rant about as the weekend looms closer. I hope that you all are doing well. Happy Saturday! 🙂

*Also, good luck to all of my friends competing this weekend! After all of the hard work, I have no doubt that you are going to shine under those lights. I am super excited to hear the results, and I will keep you in my prayers.
